Valentine Treat Jars

I found these plastic "jars" at the dollar tree and picked them up, because I knew if I didn't they wouldn't be around long. I went back tonight after making these and I was right; they didn't have anymore. Oh well, I picked up three different bags of chocolate candy hearts and used those to fill each one.

Love Bird Cards

These two cards were made using my Gelli Plate and the "Love Bird" stencil from iStencils. I first laid down metallic acrylic and regular acrylic paint on the Gelli Plate. Next, I laid the stencil over the stencil, rubbed, and then lifted the paper (2nd card). Then I removed the stencil and laid another piece of paper over what was left on the plate to get what is called a "ghost" print (1st card).

10th Wedding Anniversary

Love is in the Air ATC

Today my husband and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I was totally shocked as the last two years we really haven't celebrated due to a massive amount of stress in our lives. Well, my husband comes home with a card, an unbelievably gorgeous dozen roses and the first two full seasons on DVD of The Big Bang Theory. The later may not be very appealing to some, but that was like the best present he has ever gotten me. He really does listen!

Our first date was on December 18, 2001 where we went to see the movie "Lord of the Rings" and then went to the Outback Steak House, where I ordered a full steak meal. He said he was impressed by the fact that I didn't order just a salad like most women do on a first date. I told him that if he was taking me out to dinner then I wasn't holding back and I was hungry.

We were married the next year on March 7, 2002 and "the rest is history".

Day 40 - A Girl Loves Her Daddy

With Valentines fast approaching this one is dedicated to all the dads out there! My opinion is that love should be shown all year round and not on just one special day. Goes to show how much our holidays have become a way for the commercial world to cash in a buck or two.

Day 32 - Where Is My Love?

Today was a very emotional day for me and my family. We moved to Oklahoma from Colorado with no idea how bad fleas, mites, and chiggers would be and the effect it would have for our cats. Our cats did not have to deal with this in the house that we were first owners of, so it has been something of a challenge to deal with here. Well, today was the breaking point for us to make the decision to turn over our beloved pets to the animal welfare society. We can no longer afford to feed them and my cat, Mary, has a some type of infection that is literally eating her nose and left ear away. Along with not being able to feed them is the disappointment that we can't take them to the vet as we can barely make our bills.

I have spent much of today bawling my eyes out and am totally not looking forward to tomorrow when they come to take them. Ugh, I know it can get worst. But, can we just catch a break? I didn't manage to get any artist trading cards (ATC) done today, but I did manage to do enough yesterday that I submitted this ATC for the 2010 Project 365.

This is Day 32's ATC that I submitted in the 2010 Project ATC 365. Seems I am a day behind in posting as today I should have posted Day 33! I'll catch up later!

Day 19 - Love For Sale ATC

As much as I am against Valentines Day, I still love hearts and love. I believe that love and affection should be shown all year not just one day a year! With that said I decided to try out some different ways of putting my ATCs together and this is one of them.

This ATC was done by watercoloring a 300 Series watercolor ATC size (2.5" x 3.5") card. I then drew the bottle and hearts on drawing paper and then colored them in with permanent markers. Next, I used my handy blade knife to carefully cut out the jar of hearts. Finally I adhered the jar to the card using Modge Podge and then I finished it off with some permanent markers.
